Mr. Bernie Dumas, President & CEO of the Nanaimo Port Authority is pleased to announce its support for the Nanaimo Community Hospice campaign “Expand the Heart” with a cheque of $15,000, the final installment of a $50,000 pledge. The Port Authority’s commitment assists with the Hospice Society’s goal to secure a larger home for the increasing number of referrals.

“We know that the Nanaimo Community Hospice plays a major role in the community’s well-being and overall health. Given the unprecedented growth in referrals and increasing pressure to deliver programs at the level required for individuals, the Nanaimo Port Authority wants to lend its support.” states Dumas.

Wendy Pratt, Executive Director of Nanaimo Community Hospice expressed deep gratitude to the Port Authority for their support of the Expand the Heart of Hospice capital campaign. “The Port Authority’s $50,000 pledge over three years helped make it possible for Hospice to move to a new home with twice the space and room to grow. This newly renovated facility makes it possible for Hospice to continue to deliver our programs and services to individuals and families of all ages within our community. We are so grateful to the Nanaimo Port Authority for partnering with us in this venture.”
